Is this the end of big overclocks!

It's offical 2005 was the hottest year out of the last 100 in Australia up by 1c. What will 2006 bring? I've noticed that during this summer I had to drop my FSB down and lower core volts. We must do something about this warming up of the earth or overclockers may be finished.

That may be the least of your worries if the trend continues.

Not really. Global warming can create the next Ice Age by melting the polar ice cap, which in turn lowers the ocean temp, and slows down the ocean current.

no to mention the whole, diluting of the salt in the sea means it wont heat up and cool down as much stopping the drift alltogether theory.

Yeah, people really need to start caring more about the earth, what the hell are we here for if we can't look after our most precious comodity? I'm not saying we should all go and join greenpeace or other environmental group, but just something small, like using public transport to cut down on emissions from engines, and so on.

Quick, everybody go buy a Toyota Prius! They are good cars.

But then again, the energy it takes to make new cars doesn't really save much but new cars are going to be made anyways so they might as well make cars that are cleaner.

I work for oil companies, public transportation and fuel efficant cars are the enemy

All kidding aside, We need to use more fuel efficent means of transportation and ways to produce energy. Not because we are harming the planet. But because at the rate we are going we will run out of fossil fuels long befor we do long term damage to the planet.

Our standard of living is directly tied to our energy consumption. If we don't find ways to produce and use energy more efficantly as well as develope renewible energy sources we will be in a bind.

People think of all of the cars and trucks on the road, but that is the little picture. The big picture is mechanized farming. What happens if we have to start rationing out energy. We need mechanized farming to produce the food to feed the worlds population. What happens when all the fossil fuels are gone or to high priced for anyone but governments.

Then the cost of farming goes up. The cost of food goes up. The cost of manufacturing goes up. People are spending more money to eat and heat and cool thier homes and have less money to be the consumers they are today. People buy less stuff and the price of stuff goes up. No one is buying enough products so people get laid off and plants close down. Now there more people out of work, less money to go around. People buy even less and so more plants close more people get laid off. And so on and so forth.

You get the idea.

Global warming should be on the back burner until we have sorted out our energy crisis.

I completely agree with you. But the solution is a whole lot easier than everyone makes it out to be. Just like Brazil does we can make our own ethanol to run in the energy technology we already have. Simple.

Skateboards make a lot of noise. Especially when you ollie on pavement. He had a perfectly good reason to call the police. Shooting someone's car with a paintball gun is vandalism and clearly against the law.

It will be a cold day in hell before you catch me in a Prius. Two crap engines is no substitute for one good one.

Every time I see one I think of Paris Hilton driving hers. She goes all over California in her little Prius while her security detail follows her in a Ford Expidition. Way to save the environment...

I'm interested in the Hydrogen developments. The whole thing is very interesting to me, particularly BMW's hydrogen technology.

If you actually drove one of these you would notice the engines are not crap at all, but since you will never drive one...

It has 110 hp total wich might not seem like much but the 2 electric motors add 295 lb ft. of torque for plenty of low end and the Continuously variable planetary drive system uses the power very well.

EDIT: I once passed someone up a hill in a 55 zone, looked down and my little Prius was doing 103MPH!

110 is the absolute maximum combined power output from memory. I remember my very first car was 110Bhp.

I bought it for the price of a 17" CRT monitor a few years back. About $230.

Not only would it have been quicker than a Prius, and less prone to kicks, trolley bangs, and keyings, but with rust, and the lack of a spare tyre, it was only 890KG.

Would I take it over a Prius? Yes.

Call me insecure, but I would feel lousy every time someone with a real car laughed at me, or when a little kid in a back seat giggle "Whats that thing daddy"

Only to be answered "Why, thats a toy car, for people that like to pretend they care about polution, and can't use a manual gearbox"

(their words, not mine)

That doesnt mean hybrid or battery powered cars suck. Far from it. The Venturi Fetish is one of the most brilliant and well designed cars I have ever seen. The Prius is just a handbag with wheels.
