Question Anybody ever try...

anybody ever try blowing a fan, at the backside of the mobo?.

I have a little H/S fan, that wont protrude... thinkin' right behind the cpu.

what do you think? think it'll do any good, or help at all?

Bruno

It will appear to help a lot, as it cools the airspace behind the socket where the temp sensor is. it wont actually help cool the thing much at all though. if you have an accurate method of measuring core temps id say go for it and let us know how it effects true temps

Most reports around the boards say it won't help much.

Might just try it someday. Time to clean out the dust bunnies anyway.

A pox on those dust bunnies. Uh-oh.... gotta go. The one's in my place are big enough to have names, and Richard is looking over my shoulder. Ack!!

But seriously, cooling the back of a mainboard isn't silly. But it won't make a noticeable dent in your temps. Probably. Give it a try! There's a lot of little bumps there, and they're possibly treasonous if not given a wide berth.

I've heard about people filling the space behind the mobo with foam so that it keeps noise down and dust from getting behind..

If they did that and it didn't create a heat problem, then putting a fan there really wouldn't do much anyway..

But it would look cool on a case mod :-D
