Arctic Cooling Freezer and system temperature

I recently purchased an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro for my Opteron 146. Being, supposedly, one of the best HSFs on the market, I'm not really pleased with it.

My Opteron is clocked at 2.5Ghz currently, and I was hoping to increase it once I had got the new HSF. With no increase in voltage, the CPU is running at a crazy 31-33 degrees celcius idle. This isn't right, is it?

The second thing I'm worried about is my system temperature. The first time I booted up with my new heatsink in, the system temperature was at 30 degrees idle. After I restarted, it's gone up to 43 degrees! The case I'm using is the Thermaltake Armor VA8000 case, so airflow is good.

I have a buyer for the system, and I'm trying to get this sorted as soon as possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

Your CPU Temps are fine.

Dunno about your system temp though.

I was gonna get the Thermaltake Big Typhoon, but I had heard that the Arctic Freezer cooled better.

I'm actually more concerned with the system temperatures. Is there any way of knocking it down a few degrees?

Lucky you, with 30C idle temps. My ambient room temp is 30C, and my CPU idles at 40-41C. So long as it's under 50 load it's all OK, and whenever people ask AMD about temps they reply, "So long at it doesn't go over 60, it's OK," as the chips begin to take damage at 65-70C. I'm hoping once I get a new case with the 25cm fan on the side, my temps should idle around 38-40C, because my current case airflow is not to great. Right now all I've got is a noname brand case, which oddly enough has a nice motherboard tray.

Anyway, my GPU temps are my real worry. The thing is idling at 60C, and load at 70C. No artifacts yet, but twice during Half-Life 2 I've had inexplicable crashes that required restart. I was able to get to the desktop, however the program wouldn't close. That may have been a software error, because I don't think I would've been able to get to the desktop with a GPU overheat.
