I had one and i didnt think it was a bad cooler at all, kept my c2d almost as cool as high end water cooling can. The fan isnt exactly small its a 92mm isnt it ? They have addressed this tho with its replacement the 9700 which is just bigger in all respects. bigger sink. bigger fan to fit the hole |

i know i wanted that one but it wasn't out went i got the 9500 but about the airflow the cpu cooler is gonna be trying to blow air out the back of the case while i have a 120cm fan blowing air in can i fix by putting the cooler on backwards because i think it will only go on one way.

It can go on either way round, but what will you then do with that air ? extract it out the top of the case ? |

The Zalman 9700 exisits because there are situations where the 9500 just plain doesn't perform. If you are set on this cooler, then pls get the 9700, if you can. Also look at the Scythe ninja and the scythe infinity, or any of the other HUGE heatpipe-based heatsinks, like the HR01 from Thermalright..

Yeah, the 9500 has been out for a couple of years now, and it did get a lot of great reviews. There's always something "new & improved" on the horizon, but I think that just as with many HSF's, if you have good case ventilation it'll work fine.

![]() The Conroe's are a cooler running chip than Pentium's and even some AMD's, so you should get good temps with the 9500.

The 9500 is not a bad H&F it's only more expensive ($70). Change mine for freezer 64 Pro ($30) and get the same if not better temps with it. Zalman is quieter thou. Sycthe Ninja looks very good on paper. Does anyone have experience with it?
