Extreme cooling

Just trying to stir it up a bit.

Is anyone using extreme cooling here?

Tell us about it. Any thing you have tried and worked or failed.

I know there are some hard core extremists here......

heh

I have the parts laying around here to build myself a hard-core phase-change rig, I just haven't gotten around to putting it all together yet. I'm thinking that after the first of the year I'm going to take a look at the CPU landscape, buy whatever the best overclocker out there is, and put it under direct-die phase-change to see what I can do with it.

I believe Pitch runs a phase-change unit.

Hmm I've always wanted to run a ducted air cooler in my case, with cool air pulled straight through the HSF then straight out again. But I never had the money for a decent Socket A cooler with the right sort of mounts, so if anyone is feeling generous...

Apart from that I once but a computer in a fridge with the thermostat turned as low as possible, unfortunatly the with the PC turned on the temp fluctuated around -5 +5 degrees so I had to be real careful about condensation. Not that it mattered much in the end, as the board I was using just plain sucked

I might even have some pics somewhere, I will go have a look-see.

Favu, why is your 6600gt not overclocked? They go so well with a bit of a volt mod.

It's not overclocked because my case is a mess atm, and it is running the stock cooler.

I have tried but the OC I could get stable was so minimal I figured it wasn't worth it.

I like my cooling situation, it seems a bit odd(the cheep mobo) but it was $40 and I didn't have any more $$$ at the time. Hopefully I'm getting a camera for X-mas(I THINK thats what the wife is getting me), and then I can get some picture to ya'll.

If anyone wants some scores, pm me of what you want, and I will get back to you on them.

Well I look forward to seeing it.

I managed to get my office moved downstairs. Man to those 21" monitors are heavy....

I should have enough room to set up my chiller now. Time permitting.

It is from a medical cooler. big compressor and a water jacket cooling coil.

I can get water close to 0 rather quickly. I will be regulating the temp with a thermostat. Want to keep the cpu temp around 20C load.

I will get a pre pic tonight or so. I will build a box to house it so air flow is directed across the condenser and compressor. It will have a separate compartment for the evaporator coil/water jacket container....

Let's see some pics of your non stock cooling. Water cooling and so on. Anything home made will be cool. Again, I am just trying to stir things up a bit here.

Wood case

Well, it's nothing extreme, but I've built a wood case (not finished yet). The thing I like most at it is that the airflow is a bit different: with only one fan it cools 2 hdds and provide cool enough air to keep the cpu (AXP 2500+@2.2GHz) at 45*C idle . Of course, the cpu cooler still has it's own fan running.

This is a picture before everything is connected. Missing in the picture is the fan that moves air for hdds and cpu. It was attached later and stands in between the hdds and mainboard.
In normal use, the case stands with the PSU near floor and the hot parts above (the left part of the picture is up).
I will have to source new materials for the case, as some of the walls are bended (the wood was too young and not dried enough).
