Are Pabst fans difficult to buy in the US?

Maybe I'm slow but Pabst fans seem hard to get in the US, unless they are attached to a heatsink. I wanted a 33 cfm 60mm, but settled for a 30 cfm 60mm, built by Delta. I'm glad I have a replacement for one Delta Banshee, TM, Marca Registrada. But 33 cfm would have been better.

And I thought you were talking about a certain website owner

Unhappy

I know Swiftech sells just the fans but they're not cheap. Having looked for them as well, all I can say is good luck!

Welcome to AOA Forums, BongWater! I guess NO BongWater is a more accurate handle? And bruddah, that stuff tasted BAD, so friends have told me.

Thank you for the tip, I've read that Pabst's are difficult to come by in the Estados Unido's. Seems that I read right. Are the Pabst fans made in Germany? It'd explain the high price.

Funny, I don't visit Dr Tom's site hardly at all anymore. Used to like it a lot way back when.

Yeah they are made in Germany and Swiftech sells 'em for .... gulp....$18 untailed and $23 tailed. Here's the page where they sell 'em.

50 cents short of twice as much for the tailed Pabst 33 cfm as for a Delta 30 cfm-- and that's adding $3.00 to the price of the Delta to include a "Molex" pass through with a lead for the mobo so that the RPM sensor can be used while powering the fan from main power.

Of course, if one had a soldering iron, the Pabst is a lot more reasonable. Can 3 more cfm cost more?

Papst 60mm fans are about €19 (quantity under 5) directly from Papst Germany, excluding tax and delivery. That equates to about $16. These would be untailed, so you'd have to provide the connector.

How important is 3 cfm? Not worth the extra eight simoleans. Weyell, Japan makes better cars than Germany does. IMHO. Can Taiwan be all that far behind Japan? Probably, but they're closing the gap.
