Prescott temps?

I have been using speedfan to monitor temps on my prescott socket775.

Is that the way to go? Or is there a better app to look at the temps on these chips?

So far i am seeing 53C with a slight OC. What seems to be the max safe temp on these? I had heard around 60c. Is that right?

I have seen load temps as high as 70C.

Are you using a retail HSF?

The 3.2s are 103 watts stock.

Without knowing the exact model number of that processor, there's no way of looking up the thermal specs of the processor.
There's lots of P4 Prescott models that were made...

You can look that up for yourself...

Oh those glorious days of yesteryear when 60C killed a P3(?).

ok so that page says that the thermal spec is 75c.
Now i take it that that i should keep the max load temp under 75 and not actually at 75 right?
So if I run it at 65-70 max loaded i should be ok?

Should be...I always go with the cooler the better. If my C2D breaks 45-50 I get a little freaked out.

This really depends on the processor. There are good and bad ones.
Some can take more & others less.
But it's always a good idea to keep it as cool a possible & the lower the temps the better.
