Question Temp monitoring dificulties

I'm seting up the two folding rigs for My thermal compound tests and have run into a big problem. the temp monitoring programs aren't being affected by the stress programs.
I've got Motherboard Monitor, SpeedFan, and CPUinfo for monitoring temps. I've run OCCT, prime95,Orthos, and none of the temp readings change more than a couple of degrees.
This is on the Athlon 950 with a Gateway motherboard of somesort. Via chip kt133 chipset Ideas anyone?

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that the older Athlons like the TBird didn't really alter their power consumption much between idle and fully loaded; the 'idle' thread in Windows couldn't 'sleep' the CPU or put it into a lower power mode like with later CPUs. As a result, even when the machine is idle, the CPU is still consuming power running an 'idle loop'. I know my 1 GHz Athlon TBird didn't seem to vary too much running Win2K.

edit: It looks like power management didn't come to the AMD Athlon chips until the Palomino and Morgan cores, although it was previously available on the mobile K6-2 and K6-3 variants.

Then the only rig I've got is the Biostar E4300 and that doesn't give me enough of a spread for a test to be valid. I guess I'll dig around in here and see if I cant get something else running-maybe-I'm a little tired of it. Delema
