in the next 2 weeks i will be ordering my new system this is what im looking at

As you know already the quads are very good for multitasking, but for gaming have no advantage over a duo core.

So the question is...What are you going to be using your system for mainly???

Because I mostly use my system for video gaming, I'd go with the E8400 because it's got great OC speed with low temps & would be an excellent CPU for gaming at a relatively low cost. It also has 6mbs of L2 cache over the other's that have 4mbs.
Keep in mind, the more L2 cache the CPU has, the faster it will run software & games...
Another thing to keep in mind is the very low multi that the Q8300 has being 7.5.
So unless your mobo can do a consistent solid 500 FSB (3.750GHz) getting it to clock higher won't be easy.
With that said I would go with the E8400... This is MY choice though.

No matter what you choice ends up being, you will still have an excellent gaming system with good OC potential given the choices above for a CPU.

i pick up a 9800gt today for $200 i have it install but havent run 3d mark vantage yet
