| I was curious as to how this new mid fan design was compared to the 9700 which I have... ![]() Seems my cooler has a slight edge on cooling performance as it's got more surface area. ![]() Even still this cooler should do a good job on cooling your AMD CPU! ![]() Remember to take off the clear plastic fan shroud! This is just to protect it during shipping & not meant to be kept on...it will also run cooler & be quieter with it removed. Btw, my current core temps are 22 & 24c. EDIT: I admit my main interest is to see how it performes Enclosed and how I should set up the air flow thru the case. Some compitetion would have been fun!!

Nothing even gets warm in my case with it closed up!!! (take note of the "clean" cable management) This is with 5 case fans not counting the PSU & Graphics card blowing out.

| I don't have the cables orginizeed any more-have to rearanga as I did a 180 with th HSF. This is a rough drawing of my ventalation system. It will take a little time to dial in but with the 2" vent along the complete bottom-I can create a tornado if I want to! AS in trying for 4.50!!! I can see the scan is hard to read: 2x1200mm and a 90mm intakes from the front. 1 ea 1200mm side panels-video card and back of mobo (CPU) 90mm blow hole and an 80mm out the back above PSU. 1 ea in north & southbridg. 1200mm variable on HSF Thank the Lod the only one that realy screams is my variablel on thr HSF and on most ocations with the door open I could go passive. We are ging to learn a lot about this HDT-51283 in the next few days.

Your system and mine are simularbut diferent enough to msake t more interereting, finding our way up- I'm shooting for 4.50Ghz on air and am goin from my methods.which will get me to 4.05Ghz real quick. There is a brickwall right there that means a lot of leanining needs to br done. Damn TR and his black heart! ![]() EDIT: I thought hat if we want ti work on this together, with Muff!n okeing his nose in as much a spossible! We should sync up on temp monitors. Outright, I dont trust SpeedFAN. Link to the one I use the most. It's free. http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitorpro.php and Everest v4.55.01330 it has a fre vesion also So if you want to take a ride with somemone who does't know how he is going to get wher he is going, but is going to get there-Just a small warning I'll proply take 3 weeks-mabea month-I can't afford ner parts!

Its as simple as that. Taking note on how much air it going in as well as how much air is going out. You want to keep this as even as possible. I only have 1 intake fan & that's used to cool the HDs but that's it. The rest are all exhaust fans, but I have big open screens in front on the empty drive bays to let the air in. I also removed all the screen filters which obstructed the airflow. I just take the time to blow the dust out every 2 weeks or so. Side fans in general don't help cooling & do the opposite by creating turbulence with the front to back airflow. So I'd stay away from that all together unless that's the only way you can get cool air into the case. ![]() That's really all the advise I can give you PPM on this...

I have a hodge podge set of fans now but for different reasons. I have some experimenting as to pro or con. They can be unplugged at any time! I want as much air flow-with the least turbulence with a + airflow of at least 10. Then there is the heat and bulk of the video card. I didn't have to deal with that before! Where your help will be needed is once I get the fans set the way I want-get at least a week of study in on memory and voltages and bios settings for this board-and with help-it's 4.50Ghz. Think I had given up? That is one thing about being a hack-if you don't make it--back up and let go for a while, and when ya come back it's with a whole new view point. I'm going to make 4.50G on air. no tricks nothing but how i put my box together and th parts I chose to by and the method I chose to get there. And a little help from my friends!!!

I can't even get to 3.6GHz stable... ![]() The one I would ask is the one that has been there with this CPU with a similar system build! Weldzilla is the one I'd go to & look at this thread again for OCing the E8400 to those speeds & faster on AIR! Btw, he used 1.6v to get there to give you an idea on the vcore used. P5KE-Wifi + Wolfdale = Incredible!!!

![]() I never thought you were trying to be discoriging,TR, I know some times you were anoyed and sometimes pissed. We just don't think the same way-thats all. I knew in all probability I'd be where I am now-hitting the bookks for facts and figures and decimal points an .025v I hate it! But if this doesnt work-and it will be 2 weeks or more-then I'l step back for a while-dosomething else. Th come at it agian. AOA is going to have a bonified-no cheatin' 4.50g on air and air alone. If it takes another year-so be it. Besides Mareen-F@H and 4.50G have been my working goals for over a year-nothing has changed. They all compliment each other even if *outsiders* don't see it. Do ya think I need a life?-Don't answer that! ![]() ![]() I don't know about any one else but the Dixie Chicks and i are haveing a great m0rning-Here is hopeing you are too!

| Sorry, Muff!n, I've got my rig partialy down to clean up the inside. So I'm online with a Plll that I've obviosly repaired wrong. i can bairly read your post and frankly, it looks like someone penciled in the numbers-so i don't have to worry about that either! See how easy life is when you just refuse to see the truth? S.O.B.I've got at least a week before i can make a run at 4.50Ghz. S.O.B.
