Eheim or Danner, gimmie the good, bad and ugly.

My water block arrived today, now the next step is a pump. Can everyone who's used Eheim or Danner give me their success and/or horror stories.

What size hose are you running? The 1250 has 1/2" connectors right?, my block (Swiftech MCW462-U) has 3/8" and I'm not sure where would be the best place to step down the diameter if I got the 1250, thusly I'm leaning towards the 1048 if I go Eheim.
