Copper Grease Everyone should buy a tub of this stuff. It's cheap and I'm sure very comparable to that arctic silver stuff. I got mine from a bike and car shop. http://www.lizardloop.pwp.blueyonder...s/copgre/1.jpg http://www.lizardloop.pwp.blueyonder...s/copgre/2.jpg http://www.lizardloop.pwp.blueyonder...s/copgre/3.jpg Only problem is the stuff stinks and doesnt wash off anything, so dont spill it.

You apply copper grease to the backside of brake pads to reduce brake squeal. It's basically high temperature grease with copper particles. I don't know how large the copper particles are in the particular grease loop is using. I suspect that under high loading from a tight heatsink, there might be a risk of the copper particles overstressing the silicon and causing it to crack. Loop, I'd do some comparisons with another thermal grease and see how they come out. I have a sneaking suspicious that if you have a lapped heatsink, then the copper might actually put the heatsink further away than a thin layer of thermal grease. AidanII

Been using copper grease for some time now (maybe about 8 months) on all types of heatsinks and water blocks, never had any problems yet.

Loop, can you do a test with standard thermal grease as well? (The white stuff, given it performs pretty much as well as ASIII) AidanII

I've used thermal pad as well I'm not saying it performs any better, its just cheap and seems to work well.
