| How do I change Voltage? I'm pretty new to overclocking and have recently installed an ahanix water cooler with two vantec tornado fans(one intake on radiator, and one exhaust). I am having a bit of trouble overclocking with EasyTune4: once I get at 2.5Ghz, my computer will restart with a blue error screen flickering, I believe this to be a direct result of me not increasing the voltage. How do I increase the voltage? Thanks.

| I take it that your mobo is a GA-8IHXP. You should indeed be able to hit higher speeds than 2500 with that CPU. Seems like you have quite many devices in your computer, what Power supply are you using? How many watts? You can find your motherboard here: http://tw.giga-byte.com/products/8ihxp.htm where it states: CPU FSB / Multiplier / Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS AGP Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS DIMM Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS So you have good control over these things in your BIOS, and I suggest you go to your BIOS and bump up the FSB, and perhaps up the voltages (Don't give the northwood too much, or it might fry. I wouldn't go above 1.75v) I like BIOS overclocking better than software overclocking.. give it a shot, and let us know. Good luck!! |

| Thanks alot! I indeed do have that mobo and am going to give bios a try, I've been having a few problems with EasyTune. I'm supposed to be able to change the voltage but where the dial is supposed to be it looks like it's locked. I've preoccupied with a couple of classes until later but I'll keep you posted. Thanks again! ![]()

| No problem. ![]() BIOS overclocking is essential. Perhaps there is an option about vcore that is set to "Auto"? If you can change this to "Manual" you will be able to change the core voltage as you please. (Within the limits set by the mobo). You should even be able to push it a bit WITHOUT changing vcore. Just up the FSB a couple of MHz, reboot the computer, and check for stability in Windows (Run folding@home, 3Dmark etc) and if it checks out OK, try upping the FSB a bit further. Loop until it is unstable. Then up the vcore a bit, and see if that helps.. Check out this article about your mobo http://www.tomshardware.com/mainboar.../i850e-11.html I like the nice blueish color! ![]() Good luck! |
