Purple Ice

For a H2o setup how would this be with just water and it?

Plus it's a free-kn KEWL color.

Purple Ice lowers the surface tension of water, and also fights corrosion. It should work well as long as you run around 95% water.

I think its funny that they advertize it with the line "lowers engine temperatures", lowering engine temperature below what it is engineered for is a bad thing. All the clearances in an engine are such that they are near perfect after everything is brought to temperature and expands.

Foamy, hmm.

Is it in his H2o setup,? closed loop or open?

Is he pleased with the results with it?

Is he using it with just water or coolant also?

I ordered some from becooling when i bought my pump and tubing from them, but they sent me purple die instead. I havent bothered to tell them about it. I would rather have the purple ice, i dont really have a use for the dye. I suppose i should email them.

Hey Lionfish,

I beleive Purple Ice and Water Wetter are basically the same thing. They both are supposed to contain a surfactant and anti-corrosion additives. I use 3% in distilled water.

The surfactant decreases the surface tension of water allowing it to "wet" surfaces better. This can improve heat transfer slightly and can also help remove tiny air bubbles trapped on the internal surfaces of the water-cooling components. The initial release of these air bubbles in a new system can make the water appear milky and a little foamy but it should completely clear up after a few hours.

The corrosion additives seem to be minimal and a lot of people like to add 10% antifreeze or coolant system corrosion inhibitors just to make sure...

The red and purple dye typically fades out quickly, especially if you are using silicone tubing which will absorb it.

Just a though, you said that purple ice is kindof bubbly, and this bottle of stuff i got from becooling is purple and bubbly when you shake it, but its in the bottle that they picture the dye in. So im wondering which it is. Would the dye look kindof soapy when you shook the bottle of it, or is this purple ice in a different bottle?
