Whats wrong here?

I got an AX478 and a silent panaflo 27cfm fan-- MUCH better then stock coolin right?? WRONG? im getting 6c + temps!!!!!! WTF! this is much quieter, and moves more or not the same amount of air..............WTF?

It may have something to do with differences in mounting pressure . . .

That fan is a bit on the small side, you should be using something in the 30-40CFM range for CPU cooling no matter how large the heatsink is . . .

Ok........ i put a 40cfm panflo on it.... and resat it..... and replaced the thermal paste...... 6c drop...... still at 52c folding......

It's probably the mounting pressure then if the thermal junction is nice and smooth and the thermal paste is applied correctly . . .

gotta give me some credi here jeff....... i think its the stupid mounting mechanisim what connected to the board that the heatsink latches onto-- i think its "holding" it above the CPU-

I think I'm going to have to agree with Sigma here. I once applied ASII as per there instruction and temps raised up pretty hi. I added some more ASII and they came back into range.

If you find that adding more goop helps, its almost certainly just not clamped down hard enough, or the bottom resembles 20 grain sand paper and needs a good lapping.
