HS with no built on fan
Well basically I need a little quick course in addon fans. I am not that familiar with all the different types of fans out there

I want to get an Alpha 8045 but have no idea what fan to get with it. The only other HSF I have installed is a Volcano 6 so I am not that experienced at it

I dont want the loudest, I dont want the weekest, so basically I am looking for something that will be great for OC, not loud, and is at a fair price

I am not positive but I will most likely get an 8HKA +

Links are welcome

What do you think

Sunon makes a 39CFM (cubic foot/minute) 80mm ball-bearing fan that is a nice "middle of the road" type choice, and they are very reliable. I have one that is over two years old and is still going strong.

I would have to agree with Jeff. The delta will cool better, but it's alot louder.

You've basically reached the great dilemna every overclocker faces using air cooling. The three things we all juggle is price, noise & cooling (cfm). Unfortunately, the bottom line is what is acceptable for one person, is junk to another.

IMO any noise in the 40+dba range is unacceptable. Some guys don't mind the jet engine, but you won't know until you hear it yourself. Low 30's is considered quiet, and 20's is referred to as silent. You can hear it, it's just an accepted term.

Every fan you look at, compare in addition to price, the noise level (in dba) and cooling potential ( in cfm).
