3 pin fan connector

im looking for a 3 pin connector that bare leads from a fan attach to.
this should be the same connector that attaches to the motherboard.
i havent been able to find then anywhere yet, although ive seen them somewhere.

ive salvaged a fan from a dead psu and i want to use it, but no connector.

The fan header is a standard 3 pin SIL connector - the likes of Farnell and Maplin sell the relevant bits and crimpers if you want the ability to make these sorts of connector for yourself. Otherwise you're best off chopping one off an old CPU fan and soldering that up.

i dont have an old cpu fan

i found the connector, where can i get a crimp tool?

I'm willing to wager a crimp tool will probabally cost more than a fan so unless you pplan on doing this often it doesn't sound too economical
I take it this fan has rpm monitoring cable? if not why not just connect it to a molex?

Graham is correct, i work with molex connectors every day at work and the crip tool is expensive in terms of buying one just to mod a fan, ive managed to crip a molex with a long nose set of pliers though...so give it a go! ;)

i guess i could put a use to all those molex adaptors i have lying around. 5-6 of them i have for sure.
