Can't load w2k

I could really use some help here please.

On an old work machine, k62 500 , 256 pc133 ram (new) hd, cdrom 250w psu. The machine at the moment is down to HD/CD/cpu/ram. Cd and ram have been swopped out and I've ran seatools on the HD which showed no problem.

Using two different (and Genuine) ms w2k install disks it gets as far as Distributed Transacion Coordinator and reboots. Anyone got any clues as to what could be causing this?

whats the background of the pc?
was it working previously? and with what OS?
It could be the PSU, but if its doing it at exactally the same place each time and not randomly its not likly to be it.
have you tried any other os?
also try disabling the parallel port and com ports in the BIOS, and maybe see if you can shuffle a few irq's around, it may help.

Thanks m8. Onboard sound and graphics, all pci cards removed. Was working perfectly (had been for about 3 years) till a month ago when the hdd died. Installed a new one and loaded w2k with sp4, network etc. had a software prob a couple of days ago when MS office died. When tried to reinstall it kept crashing while looking for a couple of fonts.

In a fit of annoyance I decided to reinstall everything and now can't even get windows on. All I havent changed are the cpu and mobo.

look at the motherboard and its capacitors, do you notice any brown dis-colouration at all on the top of them, from the way it died it sounds like its dieing - dead, check the bios for any voltage readout and see if any voltages start to drop over time. It probibly worth trying to install a 9x os just to see if it will load up that at all. If it doesn't its likely you have a faulty motherboard.

Again thanks for the suggestions Soul99 . Nothing at all and voltages still look okay in bios. Don't have a 9x os here although I've got at home.

Didn't really want to but swapped out a K62 from one of the other machines in the office and I got the same crash at the same place again.

Just been out and picked up a new board and Xp2200. I'll put it together tonight. I've wasted far too much time with this.

BUT looking on the bright side at least we get a new folder

Looks like it was the board. New system up and running sweet as you like

Put it into a new budget case as well, a jeantec. A bit rough about the edges but really easy to work on, drop down sides. If anyone wants any piccies let me know.
