Windows XP Pro... Error #4

I am building a new computer. Am using XP Pro. When I try to load it
into virgin HDD {Western Digital WD800JB-00ETA0} Setup starts loading
and then stops and a blue screen says " File setupdd.sys could not be loaded Error #4 Setup cannot continue"

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;124378

Here is link to Error #4.

I have tryed to load WD's Data Lifeguard Tools EZ-install.
When I click on the "Install" button I get a Critical Fault screen.
The other part of the tools work.

It seems like both are related to HDD not being able to be written to.
Well thats my guess...... How do I fix this mess???

Welcome to the forums.

Were you able to format the drive?

Have you tried makeing a boot disk and running FDISK on that HDD?

Error #4

Thanks for quick reply.....
On "Get another Hdd" Yes I may have to do that...

On "making a boot disk and formatting" I tryed my Win98 boot disk.
It made a primary partition of 10,78Mb and then formatted it..
Tryed XP Pro again and same problem.

As far as memory I am using... Two sticks of...
256MB Twinmos/Winbond PC3200 CL2.5 184pin DDR400 DIMM (p/n XDC256)
Is there another brand that may work better???

This was recommended by someone with the same MoBo....
Epox EP-8RDA+ Rev 1.1 Just flashed bios to 9/30/2003 8RDA3930.

Are you overclocking when you install the OS?!?! This is a big NO NO

One other thing to try is go into the bios and "load fail safe defaults" then try to install the OS.

If it's a new mobo, I've had to flash a new mobo so I could install XP.
Hope those help, and let us know how it goes.
