75GXP rules! Hades, pos crud stinkin'...

Bizarre symptoms with my A box. Doubleclick a desktop icon= nothin.' Click Start button= menu appears for 1/10th of a second.

I don't wanna see the "I've had my 75GXP for seventeen years and it's perfect" posts. Please!

What sux is that I have a broken right wrist. I can't pull the IBM #^%^&*!! outta my A box and accidentally drop it ten stories. And install the 40 Gb Seagate.

I can't pull the CUBX-E outta my B box and put my "class B" Duron hosting mobo in it. I'm stuck with a C550 B box. The shame!

Mustn't grumble. At least I have a B box!!

Hang in there. A lot of folks don't have a back up machine.

Anyway back to your problem... Have any friend's that know how to work a screwdriver?... You could give 'em a free lesson on how to work with PCs . Maybe throw in a few beers and make it a party? I'd be glad to give you a hand but 3000mi can be a pain.

I just purchased a P90 machine for backup... I think gratitude for having a decent backup (lord knows I didn't when my backup P3 750 went down and I couldn't afford to replace it) is in order.

Sounds to me like you have plenty of spare parts. When you're feeling better you'll be able to toss, drop, kick and dunk that IBM any way you choose...

Thank you all for the replies! So far, no friend has volunteered for a swap HDD lesson--that's prob'ly 'cause they can give me lessons. Indeed, I'm fortunate to have a working B box, no matter how humble!

Thanks for the reminder, Pinky. The waiting makes the wilfull destruction of the IBumMer HDD all the sweeter.

'Whadda ya mean 350 static G's?" Maybe I will RMA it, but it's doubtful.

Im still stuck posting using my dads Acorn.
Ive been using it for weeks now as im being screwed over about my Epox RMA (tekheads.co.uk)
Ive grown to quite like it.

Sorry to hear your drive has died, if mine goes ill be in big trouble as ive no spares and no cash.

Cant you just pull the POS out with your teeth ?

I hope you get it fixed soon.
