then yes i am afraid it may be your proc, but with out being able to see it myself i can't guarentee that that is the cause of your problems.....
when applying thermal paste, you should be spreading it out over the entire surface of the cpu die, in a thin "paper-like" layer. assuming that your heatsink is not lapped, when you are done with the thermal paste, you should not be able to see the cpu through it. it goes the way that less is more, but you must ensure that there is as large as a contact area as possible. Artic silver is slightly conductive, and if it has covered a trace, this may be shorting out the proc. artic silver 5 is not conductive, but it is capacitive(meaning it will hold a charge), and should it join 2 contacts, it will cause problems as well.

lol that the blue one? lol i have the pro 2 in mine.....it's what started the whole "blue thing" for me...gotta pick up the keyboard and mouse today. After using an old 98-key board, it seems better than my newer one....gonna have to buy a new keyboard now too.

The Hard Drive and now the processor because I am shipping it back for a replacement. But besides that I the board came completely barebone just the board itself. But essentially I have everything but the I/O mobo shield becuase it didn't come with one and the one I was gonna use didn't fit because of the 2 USB ports directly below the PS/2 mouse and keyboard inputs.

It's funny how mesmorisng a case can be. My computer still isn't working but I find myself turning on the case and staring at it for half an hour at a time. It looks cool but doens't work, and how that enterntains me, I'll never know. Lol.

I think my proc got lost in the mail so it looks like I am going to have to sell it. Anyone interested can look in the AOA classifieds.

Well, they ARE slow and honestly I don't really like using them but.......... I would take your tracking number down to an office and get to the bottom of things.
