Video Fails Upon Windows Boot

so here is the situation.

my mom yanked the power cable out of the wall for one of my computers. now, the video craps out as soon as windows loads up, the monitor just shuts off as if there is no more video signal. yet, i know that everything is still fine because when i press one of the "hotkeys" on the keyboard, i can hear the hard disk work a little. i can still see the BIOS and the post screen, but after that, nothing.

has the onboard video on my board been partially fried, or could this be a hard drive error (file corruption)?

I suspect some sort of configuration corruption. Try booting in 'Safe' mode, revert the thing to 640x480 VGA, and then reinstall your drivers.
