The ONLY 2 hard drive vendors i recommend are Western Digital and Seagate. NOTHING else. Ive had plenty of maxtors and other drives and they were pure crap for me. Always died within a year.

I have to say, I've always had great service out of Seagate, and that's what I went for this time again. I think one of the main reasons why I went for maxtor last time was the supplier had a particularly good deal. Maybe now I know why

Well, I am a seagate fanboy, I used to like WDm but everything after the 60GB they made was junk, so I am seaget for life now, all of my seagates still 100% order in the 2 and a half years I have owned them.
Remember, newegg has great deals on seagate.

After the IBM 45 Gigger died, it's all Seagate. That IBM was really fast, shame it quit after five weeks. Grr.

Do you cool them!?!?!? I'm pretty sure (I've probably already shared the story of the two maxtors that I got one for me one for the ex) and the luck that I've had.

I am a die hard WD as well. But it was a deal that I just couldn't pass up at the time.

My drive is Seagate but if it is the problem (see my topic in hardware) then it might go against all this!
So far though it has been speedy and reliable. And I love the name Barracuda, sound so cool, not that that is of any relevance!
