![]() Hello guys! Hope you could help me. I have crappy soltek75DRV4 motherboard with via266a chipset. It has annoying feature with causes sound to get distorted with some soundblaster soundcards. Unfortunately I own one of these this soundcards but I managed to solve the problem with PCI latency patch (which is 3rd party program). Then I saw windows update recommends to install a patch which will solve this problem. So installed it and guess what? It didn't work nowhere nearly as good as that 3rd party patch ie there are some distortion in sound. So I wanted to remove it, but it seem there is no way to remove it. At least I can't find it anywhere in installed updates (in add/remove programs). I tried to install that latency patch again but it doesn't work anymore! Please, it will be really nice if someone could help, so I can listen music again. Thanks for advance.

By the way, the update was called something like: "this update will solve the problems with Ensonic/Creative ES1371/1373 soundcards". Funny thing is I cannot even found it anymore in Microsoft windows update or in installed updates. Even if I use search!

Have you tried installing the 3rd party patch over the top of it again? The PCI latencey patch is more a program that changes registry values than an actual patch so I doubt you will have a problem doing it.

hmm I would not give up just yet. I'll see if Noob (our resident microsoft employee) can shed some light.

Ok I have had a look through the update catalogue for the file - but no luck yet. I will need some more detail before I can proceed Which OS and Service pack Which sound card Was it a driver / hardware update or a Windows update? you can also have a look for the update here its where I am trying to find it, you may be able to uninstall if you know the name. Look for these files maybe S2k0526a.exe S2k0526b.exe have a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821995 if you want I should be able to send you the hotfix, with a few details if you want - or call MS first and last name phone number - don't worry I wont call you - its to expensive from NZ ![]() EDIT: just give me your email, I should be able to send it to you - I am downloading it to my comp now Also if system restore doesn't work and reinstalling doesn't work. Try- Get all the latest patches / drivers burnt to CD Boot to safe mode - use something like driver clean (CAB driver clean?? don't remember the name) to remove EVERY SINGLE DRIVER - all of them restart in safe mode - again run the driver cleaner to make sure its all removed. Search for any driver files that could be left behind, Then reinstall the drivers / patches.
