One customer brings in today a hdd that is locked. Is asking for the unlocking code. What can I do?

Thanks

Presuming the disk has been used by them before, ask them how much their data is worth and point them toward one of the few companies that can do data recovery.

The disk is locked with the ATA Security commands. That means that until the computer sends the hard disk the correct password (either user or master), then the hard disk will not allow data to be read or written. This is a function of the hard disk itself, so no software utilities can help here.

Very interesting. If I locked a HDD, faith and begorra, I'd lose the password!

The HDD is effectively a paper weight without the PW. Is it a nb PC?
