Persistantly Restarting

When I switch my PC on first thing it's restarting. Sometimes it resets at POST, sometimes during the XP screen, and a couple of times this wek it's just done it whilst runing along quietly to itself.

I suspect a PSU problem - anyone else had a similar experience?

GREAT!
Have you any reason for believing that may be my answer? (other than cheap psu's suck)

I've lain the case down to see whether there may be a loose connection...
Booted stable 1st time and been ok for 4 hours now..,

Random reboots are usually memory related, but if you have reason to believe it's the power supply then by all means replace the power supply.

Annoyingly, the reboots are pretty predictable now, only happening at start-up and manifesting in multiples. pointing my finger at a few bits of hardware ATM inc. RAM, PSU, GPU and TV card...

Can you give a system rundown?

List what ya have.

If you think mem run memtest.

Still might be PS though. Usually mem causes issues when you run something that is mem intensive...

the only info i have on my system that isn't on my sig is that the memory is running 3-3-3-7

Hey Friends,

I'm having the same problems as above. My machine was doing multiple restarts, after clicking on my desktop, or e-mail. I re-formatted and bought a new Samsung 930B screen, and it stopped doing the restarts. Now, it is refusing to boot up on the first try. The tower will run, but the screen stays blank. After two or three attempts, I finally get the POST message and then my Asus splash screen. This happen everytime I start my machine up from a cold start. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do, or check? Any help would be appreciated ver much.

This also sounds like the power supply is on the edge - I'd suggest you try unplugging any drives not needed to boot the machine - if it then works the PSU probably needs replacement.

Hey Folks,

Two days ago my machine stopped having blank screens, restarts, and no more messages in POST saying "ocerclocking has failed"... I didn't do anything to it. I ordered a new Thermaltake PSU that very morning, and that night it started working flawlessly. This is really strange! If anyone has any ideas on what has happened, please let me know. I would sure like to know what is going on! So far, so good---------)!!!
