Major Problem! Help Me This Instant, Plz!!!

Ok, Big Issue is arising.
I'm finding websites aren;t working. They simply don't seem to exist.
It happens one by one, first apple.com stopped working.
Then bbc.co.uk.
Then Google stopped working.
I don't know why. It's like I'm not connected. But why some still work (AOA, obviously) yet not others is where I need big help.
Before AOA becomes the next victim and I'm buggered. Please.
I'm anti-virusing as I type.

Hahahahaha!

EDIT: Try rebooting your router (assuming you have one) and/or dumping your cache.

Further EDIT: I sometimes get the "website not there" thing in FF if I am downloading huge things over bit torrent.

Further Further EDIT: Is it just your internet browser giving you issues or things like your IM software, too?

This is just a stab in the dark and i doubt you wouldnt have tried it already, but, have you turned off your cookies by mistake?

I sometimes have the problem with AOL <---- DIE, DIE, DIE. But restarting my pc normally makes the modem start responding again

Tried both. This really isn't funny. It's happening in IE as well. I was just using faceparty and then suddenly, bonk, it stops working.
Oh shat. I've also got other problems with my PC atm.....

AVG has found a Virus it doesn't have on it's database yet. It is a new virus.
It is a .wmf file.

Should be A-OK if you are all patched up?

I meant if you are patched up, you should be invicible as far as those particular WMF exploits are concerened, no?

If it's a new virus, it may have new ways of causing problems though? I see what you mean but if it's new can't it work differently?

According to my crystal ball, the virus could just be new and affect the old wmf exploit on unpatched machines

I figured that Microsoft would have patched all the holes in the WMF code though, but who knows?
