whats your system specs? are you overclocked?memory starting to go bad can do this.cpu overheating and getting unstable,or too much voltage for too long.try underclocking it for a while see if the problem goes away.

A complete hard lock of the system without even a blue-screen is, in my experience, always a hardware problem, and is USUALLY memory.

I know you ran Memtest on this system before but did you run the entire test set, or just the basic tests? If you haven't already done so, try running the full memory test. This will take something on the order of 12 hours or so to make 1 full pass, but it is quite thorough. I've seen problems with RAM that wouldn't show up on the normal test that turned up with the full test. If possible, I would recommend running 2 FULL passes. If it passes that ok, then we can be pretty sure it aint the memory.

its been running ok now that ive unplugged a few things. now to find out what it exactly was. could be ram or one of a few pci cards in there. will let you know when i figure it out.
