Exclamation VERY high frequency beep just before shutdown!!!

ok...this happend 2 times in 3 consecutive shutdowns.

Start>Turn Off Computer>Turn Off
Processes end normally
Windows logs off normally and beggins shut down sequence
A few seconds...

A very disgusting high frequency beep lasting for about 3 seconds. i doubt thats coming from internal speaker. suspecting hardware failure threat

right after the beep PC powers down.

Start up and operation is normal...
------------------------------------

any ideas what could have caused this?

i would like to remove this pest ASAP. if for nothing else the sound is gross...

please help

tnx

PS.: the sound could be similar to that if u ever messed with a microphone in your hands and a long loud squeel was heard over the speakers...cant compare it to anything else...i hope this helps...

Go to
control panel
Sounds and audio devices
"sounds" tab

now is there any sound under "Close Program" or "Exit Windows"?
infact turn all sounds off and let us know if you still get anything

Sounds like feedback occurs when windows gives up control of the sound card - does it make any difference if you mute all inputs and outputs in the mixer ?

what sound card do you have?

*edit*
saw sound blaster live! well thats the same sound card in the machine i had that was making that noise so is it from the speakers? If so where is it in your machine close to anything which PCI slot? If you have an onboard and the sound is in your speakers try onbaord and remove the SB Live!

noise is generated by a transformer in the computer's power supply,or is it coming from the speakers ?? If not the speakers than it could be a transisotr or the transformer going out
