Am in big trouble

Ok. So as you may already know, My abit mobo was faulty.
Well, I uninstalled it.

Uh-oh. Big problemo. I cant get my Akasa Evo 33 HSF off. I try jus tundonig the screws, but they never actually undo. The hsf has a backplate, which is plastic, with metal insertions where the screws go into. These isnertions are simply rotating with the screws.
There's no way to grip them - nothing.
So I think - OK - put it all back together with the Abit mobo and ask for help.

Uh-oh.
My Abit mobo is now well and truly ****ed. It doesn't work. It simply re-boots after 5 seconds. I tried re-setting the BIOS and worked long enoguh to get in the BIOS. Then it reset again.

I'm now using my ancient old Shuttle. I need help. Please help me get my HSF off. Otherwise - I've got to buy a new CPU and HSF.

Which I cannot afford.

May I ask the amdins if it is permissable for me to say ****. Because thats how bad I feel.

I feel terrible.

Heh, my help wasn't really all that great, it looks like the mobo might be dead, but as he has another and was just planning on moving the chip to the new one, that isn't too much of a loss.

My advice is to hacksaw through the HSF screws, as he has another backingplate, and then to just buy replacements from a hardware store.

I hope it all works out for you AP & you too Daniel~!

Good of you to say Favu! My problems...have..... settled...that is I've been forced to realize I'll have to live with them...at GD NEAR STOCK SPEEDS!!!

But....after a time of deep resentment and frustration... I realized that stock is healthy and only to be feared when
you can do better, In this case ( Video card) I can't.

So I can be happy or I can make me SUFFER... I took the cowards way out! LOL

This is really, really a bummer, I'm sorry to hear this aghastpumpkin! I've learned to never buy an Akasa HSF, but at your expense it isn't cool.

s all working. But effing and blinding aside. I'm very very unhappy.
This has been one totally unneccessary stress for me. I really should be preparing for Uni, not messing about with this stupid, peice of junk excuse for a PC.
Basically what happened was the power wires that connect my Remote Control to the motherboard so you can switch the pc on using the remote vapourised.
It seems they were touching the graphics card memory. So thats the end of my lovely iMon home theater system.
At one point, because I'd forgotten rather STUPIDLY to plug in my HSF I thought I'd fried my CPU. No worries there though, it was cool as a bunny.

I am currently happy with my new mobo. But I just feel so idiotic and I feel I cannot keep fixing things.
I feel I am just not capable enough, partly due to lack of money, to keep maintaining this system if it continues to be unreliable.
My parents may be buying me a Laptoip for Uni - so we'll see. As long as this PC is ok now, thats ok.
But one more problem....

If it makes you feel any better, I've been there done that and done that in! I'm convinced that one day we will discover that there are 3-5 days a month that men shouldn't be allowed anywhere near hardware ~

My hatred towards Computers now is meaning I'm spending less time using them. Which is quite possibly a good thing.

Reliability and simplicity often go hand in hand.

I avoid kit which is "packed full of features", flashing lights, useless LCDs, extra funky buttons, etc.

Yeah, me too. Great cartoon in the New Yorker years ago. Two squares side by side, the larger one marked "less."

I'm taking out my stupid fan controller.
I'm taking out my now deceased iMon Home Theater system.
That leaves everything else - all of which is a necessity.
I've also removed my cold cathode. My Epox Motherboard has LEDs which light up the case fantastically on their own.
I'm a little calmer now. I apologise for any rude outburst. I just felt so...ridiculous. The PC is working brilliantly at the moment, the Epox is much, much faster.
The Windows Loading screen used to stay there for a while before the log in screen would show. Now its there for no longer than a few seconds.
From pressing the on button to desktop is about 50 seconds. Sata 2 really is quick!
The new arctic cooling TIM Bradmax made me buy (Thank You) is slowly setting in, Temps are slowly decreasing as they tell you they do. Load temps are about 1-2 lower.

I'd actually like to take this chance to thank Bradmax....he has helped me a lot! Cheers dude.
