Post Card Error Code

I've been working on a friend's Dell. Change mobo, cpu and psu. Almost get it right. Start the sys. get the post and then start a reboot loop . Use three different sticks of ram, do a chkdsk and mbr fix. Use a pci post card that give me error code 'FF'. Chk it out and saids "Boot the operating system". Don't know how to do that. The bios is an "Award legal Bios (?)", intel 2.2, VIA P4M800 chipset.

Any ideas?

I think FF means that the motherboard is done with the POST and is trying to "boot the operating system" Maybe a reinstall of the OS is in order?

If you changed everything you will probably have to reinstall the OS as Favu said. You may be able to get away with a repair. Then you should be able to boot and backup all the data before you reinstall.

If it cycles through codes and then ends up on "FF", it means the BIOS has tried to execute the boot code on whatever the first boot device it could find. IE, the BIOS got through the POST sucessfully, and tried to boot from whatever was on the hard disk.

That may not work if everything is different. Xp hates it when you change the whole computer...

Pcec

Do the fix boot didn't work. The new psu was faulty. Change it, do a new installation and back on line again.

Thank you all.
