Oooooohhhhh dear...

Okay, so..

I opened a file in BS player.

It crashed. =/

So did the folder that was containing it. So I Task Managered, and the taskbar just disappeared after that, not coming back.

So I restarted.

And I've lost my administrator's account. =( I can only log on as Guest at the moment.

Can someone please explain wtf is going on? And how I can retrieve my username with the files? =(

Did you try safe mode?

If you can get in in safe mode, you can restore your user or restore to an earlier time.

It's not a virus. I'm sure of that.

It's just that I restarted when Explorer was sorting itself out.

Maybe I confused the PC? =(

Anyways, gonna go try Safe Mode. Should have tried that before! D'oh!

Okay, so..

I booted up in safe mode, and lo' behold, my admin account came up.

So I checked all the user settings and everything. It was all fine.

I booted back up in normal mode, and meh Admin account isn't there. Still only my guest account.

I have a spare partition on my HD, and I could install Windows and that and then backup my Admin documents and files, but that would be a LAST resort.

For the time being, any ideas?

Safe mode....restore to the point before you had the error. You might also want to do a chkdsk and reboot. This may fix your problems.

True. But there is still a problem. If you get in you should at least run the chkdsk.

LIEKZ YOH!

That worked.

Admin didn't show up at the quick login screen, but I managed to log in as Administrator using the classic login.

I'm gonna run chkdsk now to see what the error is.

What exactly would I be looking for? Viruses? Malware? Screwed up registrys?

Thanks for all the help so far guys. You're awesome!
