Taking long to access IDE HDD from SATA

Hi,
Well not sure if this is a major issue or if it normal. Well I have my OS on my Raptor 10,000RPM HDD. It is connected via SATA, and when I access my files from my computer, it is super fast. Now I also have an IDE connected as a secondary HDD. Now when I access it from my computer, it loads up fine, and shows all the files in that HDD. But when i click a file which is large, or a folder which holds alot, it seems to take forever to access. i am not sure what is the problem, as when i type in the same folder or file in the address bar, it loads perfectly, how it should. Please can somebody advise. Also this IDE has been partitioned. One partition is corrupt and messes up after a few weeks. I cannot access it as it comes up with an error. But if i format, it will work perfect for another few weeks. Is it the HDD? Ill try another one and let you know.

I'm not certain I follow all of your problem description, but if it has a partition which is corrupt and keeps corrupting even after a format, I gotta suspect the drive.

do u have network shares? sounds like its trying to mount remote folders. try typing "net use * /delete /yes" in the command console to unmount network shares. u will have to log out/in to use them afterward
