Random Lockups

I have an AMD system that lockups when using utorrent after awhile. It requires a reboot to get it running again. Everything else is fine but once utorrent iis on for a while it locks even if you turn off utorrent.

Any idea's

AM2 3800+ X2 dual core
2x 512 mb sticks OCZ DDR2 4-4-4-12
1x 80 gig sata2 and a 320 gig ide
ECS C51GM-M AM2 Motherboard
Nvidida 7300 gtx pci express 128mb
sound blaster audigy 2
450 watt psu dopnmt know the brand atm not home
dvd burner
usb netgear wt111 wireless card

Try re-installing your chipset, video, peripheral drivers. Worked for me after awhile of just random bs......

Just supposing here... I remember having some static from Trend Micro over the years. It may be them, not you.

i also noticed that utorrent starts dropping connectivity aka torrents stop downloading then it locks up

Could be the mobos onboard ethernet chip. Try a PCI card.

I have had a few people I know have issues with USB wireless cards. I would definatly recommend using the onboard ethernet, or another USB adapter that uses a different chipset to test if this is the issue.

ethernet works fine when im at a friends house via ethernet so im guessing its eithe trend and usb cards or the usb card

Think I have fixed the problem


I decided to remove trend micro and see if that helped and no lockups for a few hours. So i decided to install zonealarm while running torrents and blem another lock up so i removed zone alarm after some research that it sucks with p2p.

So im using Avira ad comodo together and everything seems peachy

I would try the drivers one at a time it see when it locks. Last time I had an issue like this, I tracked it down to a bad sound driver. Hate to say reinstall again, but if you can rule out at what point it starts locking it will be worth it.
