For some reason i cleaned my registry and everything but the os is gone\.

Exactly ! For some reason I never clean the registry. We will never know why so much information is contained in one single file Good thing is that you can always backup that file in case of....

Never use Registry Cleaner programs!

I've heard that linux community came up with better implemented security in it's latest Linux Mint Gold version, it's actually preventing the user to log in, thus posing 0 risk in contamining the computer with malware! Well done to the open source community!

I use a couple of reg cleaners. Always backup my reg first. I use a pretty passive one. I can say that I a "fubared" my OS before using the reg cleaner from M$. Never booted again.

I'm using CCleaner it's free, I let it do anything it wants and so far, around a month, no problems.

Been a long time since I pored over the registry via a prog that simply pointed out problems. It was up to you to delete as needed. Holy mither McRae, that was with Win95! I bet it'll be a while before you get that "brave" again. Not meant to sound mean, btw.
