We're just being safe and steering clear of any transacting whatsoever from the boards (even folding at home hardware donations are done on the classifieds page).

It's all good

*L* Yeah, I remember, very recently we tried "giving away stuff is okay" and it led to a bunch of trading.

By the way.. that AT PSU is all modded up, and in the RAID box, Pink. I'm Going to use the RAID box as the HDD of the CD Server cube I just got back from my sister. She bought it off me a couple years ago. I bought it back without it's hard drives, and minus it's AHA-2940. It will be ATX moddedwith the drawer from my InWin A-500 case, and become a folder that just happens to have 8 CD drives. I'm using the 3-channel raid card for it, so I can have 2 external channels, plus one internal for the CD drives. There are four 3½" HDD locations inside, but I duobt I'll use them. This thing sound like a noisy refridgerator with it's 115v 120mm fan.

This thing should be online in the next couple weeks. I am still waiting on several components for the RAID case. It will have warning LEDs @ 80c on each drive. SCSI drives run very hot. This may be a safe temp anyway.

(The PSU donation was done via the classifieds)

I can only show her the door. She's the one who has to walk through it.

I was very disapointed, when she asked me to disable the loud fan in Borg. (the cubes name is Borg, by the way.)

Got my Maxtor 40 gig replacement just now. I'm going to let it warm to room temp before testing it, hopefully it's all good. It looks new, not refurbed.

i use maxtors.
i have 2x30, 1x40, and 2x80 all 7200rpm not an RMA yet.

i useD WD, had 2 60Gb 7200 drives fail in a row, on the 3rd (returned from an easyRMA new) now, and am afraid to really use it.
i also have a 100Gb WD 7200 running ALOT for the last 8mos. no probs.

i just bought an 80Gb Samsung 7200rpm which i should recieve tomorrow or so. i'm curious as to how it'll run/perform/sound and i'll let you guys know.

my next buy might well be Seagate, looks good from what i see.
altho samsung is cheap, and i know maxtor has worked well for me. it usually comes down to "value buys" and bang for buck ratio to me.

IBM never! more money for big junk, IMO

Several hours later it's passed all tests, looks good. Thursday it's out the door, to a friend of mine for $120 (Can). It's not free money, but I'll take it.

I don't know if they carry exactly what you are looking for, but, http://www.cpuwatercool.com is pretty reliable.

Apparently hard drives come in "card" form now, and apparently I owned one up until recently. Isn't it amazing what you learn about yourself once you re-read old posts!

Thanks for the link, the top message says the store is closed though. I'll find something, I still got a bit of time before the heat of summer hits.
