Computer Randomly Resets-

Im helping my school here- i built them several Xp 1600 machines for the publications department- i used gigabyte motherboards( GA-7VTXE) Micron ram- 60gig IBM hardrives- and Win Xp Pro w/ 64mg Gainward GF2 TI-450 vid cards- This one machine now randomly resets and lockes up when downloading- any clue?

NIC drivers causing conflicts or corrupted. try to reinstall the nic or change its PCI slot.

Otherwise, it literally could be anything...

if the above answer does not solve the problem it could also be a faulty PSU i've known faults to occur on PSUs where the outputs drop below the minimum required to keep the system running on accesing certain bits of hardware IE: modems,net cards.

Longshot but give it ago.

I was thinking that! Im workin on it now....... and got a new motherboard and procssor- if it does it agin- ill get a new ps! Thx for the idea!

Well if it happens again turn off auto-restart, and copy down the error code. Check microsoft.com's knowledge base and hat should tell you where the problem is.

It was a faulty powersupply- runied ALL of the system- except the case :-( Oh well- now i have a bunch of dead stuff to screw w/.

A bad PSU killing everything, ive never seen that before.

Real sorry to hear that spyder have you tried contacting the comapany you got the psu from get them to compensate you for your psu and the fried equipment if you can, try swinging the old i'll take you to court thing in front of them if they refuse usually has em running scared.

Its not my system thank god.......but the schools- i bought the PS from a local shop who i am GOOD friends with :-D ive broguht them over $150,000 worth of buisness- but they wont return the other parts- since i bought them online- but now i have all the old parts and im rma'ing all of it- and it looks like ill get a new system-
(they gave me all the parts)
