Beep Beep Beep Beep, etc. AMI BIOS???

In the rush to get my A Box up after 3.5 months of downtime(**** you very much, IBM 75GXP; dumb**** me, broke my wrist). I pulled the ECS K7S5A out, removed Duron, installed faster Duron with new mo' betta CU HSF. Reinstalled mobo, with AGP GF1, SB PCI 512 and Intel NIC and 512 Mb Crucial DDR. Installed new Seagate 40 Gb(no liquid bearing. Big deal, fans drown out any but the worst HDD's), jumpered as Master on Primary IDE. Oh yeah, installed new Samsung CD-ROM drive. All the cards on the mobo are the same as they were, in the same slots.

Enlight's(may they burn in hell. Never again)"rack ears" made installing the new HDD with a 5.25" to 3.5" adapter with HDD cooler impossible. Wasted 1.5 hours trying. And wasted that all so precious 4th 5.25" bay. Enlight bites!!

Anyway, not totally surprisingly, I get a repeated short beep and no horizontal sync signal. I'm ready to dropkick me Jesus the whole box down the garbage chute.

I've been holding myself to a rigid work schedule. This made today the only day to "fix" the A Box. Tough boogies baby, I'll do things all over again tomorrow. Slow and plodding like, by the book. Stop me before I touch the A Box 'till tomorrow!! I won't, believe me!

Same thing happened to me. The AGP card is a HARD seat in the K7S5A. With advice from this forum , I Backed off the Mobo screws , set the card , and recinched the screws. Works great . Love this board. Not 1 crash since Feb. build. Very stable and fast....

It was a pain in the ARSE to get my new GF3 in. I had to do some bending. Just when I THOUGHT that I got it in I pressed a little harder and POP it seated!!

So yeah these things have tight sockets.
