Exclamation Lost Partition - s***!

I was in the process of resizing a partition on my primary hard drive and the power went out!

I use Power Quest Partition Magic 8,
C: - 10gig (OS) d: - 142gig (Back-up of everything)
I was giving 5 more gig to my OS partition

I think i am screwed because my other 160g went out last week, i know i can recover the lost data from the harddrive but i dont have enough room for it. I was wondering If you guys knew of a way to just repair the corrupt / lost partition.

That sucks cause the partition had all the copys of games which the disks where to scratched or lost, and all of my ITunes content (I know I can download all my music and movies again, but i only have sattelite now so it would take weeks).

So what do you say? Am I Boned?

Ole' Bessy:
P4 3.2Ghz 800Fsb HT - Enabled
2x 1Gb GSkill N5 DDR 400 (2.5-3-3-6)
HD 3850 512Mb (709Mhz/939Mhz)
Turtle Beach SantaCruz 5.1 - Altec Lansing GT5051
2x Seagate Barracuda 160Gb
2x LiteOn S0HW-802s (CrossFlashed to S0HW-832S)
650w PSU

My guess is that you're boned unless you want to spend some bucks and send it to a data recovery outfit, and even then you're probably going to be disappointed.

Your problem is that in order to resize the paritions, data had to be moved around. I don't know how PM goes about moving stuff, but I'm guessing that it probably doesn't update the table of contents for the drive until it's finished with moving stuff around. That means the pointers to the actual location of the data that got relocated are all invalid now.

However, that's just my guess.

I've had success with TestDisk on everything except LuKS encrypted partitions.

Edit:: forgot to mention,
TestDisk can run under
DOS (either real or in a Windows 9x DOS-box),
Windows (NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista),
FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD,
SunOS and
It is by coffee alone I set my mind in motion...

sorry to hear the bad news. that really sucks!
Who would have thought the power would go out just at the wrong time?
This would be a good time to invest in a UPS for the future
