Startup hang

My dell HANGS for 1 to 10min when booting-at the ram- hardrive- processor screen- i uses a controller for the hardrive but the cd-roms are left alone on the secondary controller- Also it says "Yet to be released PIII processor-

This one has worked for 3yrs- and i put it in another system- worked fine- i think its hte mb- stupid intel stock.....

Where would i go for that? Its a dell and the site realy..... lacks info for my system- its an intel 440bx motherboard-

Tried that.. Did nto work- still need bios update- OH BTW- when there is no HD on the raid- it boots fine!

Dell would rather you buy a new system then pdate the bios, I suggest getting the bios info from the bios chip on the motherboard, perform a google search and see if you find a third party site with updates... otherwise you're at the mercy of Dell's tech support

Have you tried it without any IDEs in, and how about ECC, do you have that turned on?



can you explain exactly where it hangs?

Right after it detects the 2 cdroms on the built in ide device channel 2- its like its waiting........ oh well- i think ill replace the stupid MB :-\
