Mouse Doesn't Work Help! My computer rebooted itself and now the mouse dissappears off the screen and will not come back. It shows up on boot and startup screen. As several programs load (MBM, WCPUID,etc.) the mouse shows. As soon as the programs finish loading, the little critter dissappears. I've had to remember some old keyboard commands but still can't find the problem. I installed a recent ghosted image but that didn't help. I went to safe defaults on the BIOS as well, thinking the speeds were getting too high, but no help. I'm running an ABIT KT7A, AMD 1.4 AYHJA, Adaptec PCI Ultra 160 ASC-29160 , 2 IBM 18.3GB/10,000RPM Ultra 160 SCSI Ultrastar 73LZX, a Logitech wheelman mouse (PS2), WIN XP Home ed. Any help will be appreciated. This is cottin pikkin frustratin! ![]()

Have you tried system restore with just keyboard commands? It's something I'm not familiar with.

As WinXP is loading, hit F4 (maybe F8). It should bring up the boot menu. From there, select "Last known good configuration). Hopefully that will work.

I also just remembered... I had a similar problem once w/ no Keyboard or Mouse. I cleared the CMOS w/ the jumper on the motherboard and the problem cleared up. I never did find out what exactly caused it. Kids messing around w/ the bios, I suspect. BRUNO

OK Folks, Here it is. I tried a serial, PS/2 and USB mouse and no go. I thought the drivers were bad so I reinstalled, no go. I installed a new hard drive and upon installing 98SE it asked me where the heck my mouse was! That's when I said to heck with it and put it all on a new mobo. Problem solved. It was an ABIT KT7R and I just happened to have another at the olde office. Talk about strange! Have any of you had a similar problem? ![]() ![]() ![]()
