Angry MB doesn't see CPU correctly

I have the following problem:

My MB sees my PIII 667 EB as a PIII 333. WHY?

System:
SOYO 6VBA 133
PIII 667 EB
Crucial PC-133 256 + 128
Visiontek GTS 32 MB
Sound Blaster Live
Award BIOS vba-2aa5
D-Link DFE-530TX+ Fast Ethernet adapter

System is original MB and CPU, memory, sound card and BIOS worked fine for 3 yrs. Added Video card and Ethernet card. Upon booting shows CPU as PIII 333 EB. Norton Diagnostics also sees CPU as PIII 334 and functioning perfectly. All settings in BIOS are set up correctly for the 667 and 133 memory. Have reset CMOS, no change. Tried to Flash BIOS, flash utility (awdflash) would not complete. CPU had been OC'd in the past to 710 or so. Any suggestions are welcome.

Try WCPUID. Here's a link to download it:

http://www.aoafiles.com/dafiles/util...on/wcpu30c.exe

See what the WCPUID reads the CPU as.

Once you run it, please post the following info:

Name String:
Internal Clock:
System Clock:
Multiplier:
System Bus:

From there maybe we can figure out what's going on with your system.

From first glance though, it looks like you have your FSB set for 66 instead of 133. Just a guess though.

WCPUID reads the processor as 334.08 MHz

It also shows the System Clock at 66.82 MHz
And the System Bus at 66.82 MHz

Hmmmm.........

BIOS shows DRAM Clock at 133 MHZ
and AGP Clock at 133 MHZ

Now what?

ok just try this remove each of the new components and see if it goes back to normal then add each of the componenet one at a time to see if which one changes it if any.

Try removing the processor and heat sink and then reseating it.

I find that just little things that dont make any sense often happen when upgrading.

It seems you have the FSB set wrong. The BIOS data saying the AGP clock is at 133 CANNOT be correct. Your video card would show corruptions before that. My guess is you need to move a jumper or something to set your FSB to the correct speed. I don't have your mobo so I can't be sure if you have frequency settings in the BIOS. If it does, try setting it in there.

Alright, Yes, I had 2 jumpers set wrong. DUH. They were in a combination that doesn't exist, screwing everything up. All better now. My sincere thanks for the help Mookydooky, the people like you on this forum are fantastic.

Well, when you upgrade using just your thumbs (opposable or not) you knock some jumpers off and put them back in stupid combinations.

Majestic, thanks for responding to my plea for help.

A little after you I'm afraid, 1968. I have a good friend who was born on the exact same date, although about 8 hours later. He and I get together on our birthday every year. Kind of corny I know...

Well I wouldn't be afraid because your 11 years younger. I wish I was your age again. Well, now that I think about some of the crap from the last 11 years, maybe not <LOL>

Anyway, it's cool to meet someone who shares my birthday. Tell me, did you recycle your Christmas list as a kid, so anything you didn't get for Christmas was on the list so Mom and Dad would have a second chance to get it right?

Actually, I never did that. The stuff I wanted would change from year to year... That and my dad, who's a big time realist kind of guy, told me there's no Santa when I was 7.
