Exclamation Sys Won't Boot

My system won't boot. I had changed the Multiplier and the FSB (11*150) and then it craped out and I had to reset a jumper. But it still wont start up.

It pauses at the "Verifying DMI pool data"

Please help ASAP, as I need this system NOW!

Sounds like clearing the BIOS is a good idea. You say you don't like to do that? Good response!

I don't think you can do any harm if you clear the BIOS the "hard" way. So, unplug the PS from the wall, or better, Power Strip. Then unplug the twenty-pin ATX power connector from the mainboard. Using a little strip of duct tape to glom onto the CMOS's button battery makes removing the battery easy. Just release the locking mechanism that holds the battery in its holder with needle-nose or forceps/hemostats, and remove the battery for ten minutes.

Replace it and plug the ATX power connector into the mobo. Then plug the PS into its power source. Ta-daah. All the BIOS is set to default.

After I destroyed a $120 mainboard by clearing the CMOS by the book, I much prefer the "hard" way!

If it gets to verifying DMI pool data then you have all ready gotten past the bios screen right? It is trying to load windows? but doesn't get that far? Can you boot from a floopy or cdrom?

That happened to me before... All I did was unplug the PSU, cleared the cmos, and after a few minutes plugged everything back in, and it worked.

What I did - I fliped the jumper around for 10 seconds, then moved it back. This is the CMOS jumper. The system would boot, but not to Windowz. So then I called Spyder. He said to check for a good connection with the HDs and CDs to the MB. So I did that. I also fliped the location of the CDs with the HDs. It now works.

Thankx Spyder

I love happy endings. Then again, one would think that the woman of SiGmA_X's avatar engineer's endings that suit her, the majority of the time.
