With a little luck a Toshiba will be on sale. I love the advertisements in the Sunday paper.

GL!
i cant remeber the site i had with all the region free updates. i did a quickndirty search and found http://www.inmatrix.com/ for some other "DVD backup" tools look at http://www.doom9.org
also if you end up with a choice on drive look at drive open/close times and the spin-up time- mine takes 2x as long as my Cd-r drive and it "drives" me crazy!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. No sales on them in the paper. I may go online for an order.

I recently found an odd SCSI / EZCD creator incomatability. I tried to use a SCSI cd drive (actually a tower of 7) in a system that had an IDE burner. The system was fine with the tower until I loaded EZCD. after that, it would only boot if I shut off the tower. Just for kicks, uninstall your burner software for a couple days, and see if there are any problems.

The system I mentioned here:
XP1800+
Gigabyte GA-7DX
256 meg crucial DDR (ECC)
Mylex DAC-960PDU-3 UW Raid Controller
---Internal:
------8.0 gig (2-drive) Raid 0 on ch. 2
---External:
------25 gig (7-drive) RAID 5 on ch. 0
------92 gig (4-drive) Raid 0 on ch. 1
Adaptec 2940b (no narrow connector)
---External:
------4 gig
------2 gig
------HP IIcx Ledger size scanner
Sony 10x/8x/32x IDE CDRW
GeForce2 mx400 32 meg AGP 4x
Cnet 10/100 ethernet (2 cards. This machine functions as a router.)

I attempted to connect the 7 CD tower to several SCSI cards including the DAC960, and the 2940

My Toshiba 16x was $60. I will never buy a Creative drive again.
