If www.aoaforums.com doesn't work

You can use www.aoaforums.com/frontpage or www.aoaforums.com/forum to get back on your favorite site and mine. :)

I'm glad that those URL's worked for you, wish they did for me! (On the 1st of June)

It really depends on what is in your cache. Our default DNS entry allows for caching the entries for about a day. After that, they expire. Once that happens, you either have to be able to refresh the entry from a DNS server, or you lose name resolution.

Well, I did do straight IP at first. But it took me to a page that says "you should probably click here" :)

Gizmo 4th June, 2008 02:57 AM

Yeah, if you use just the straight IP address, you'll end up at that page (it's our default page). The host header command has to be sent as part of the page request so that the server knows which of the several sites we host here is the one you want.

can't we just clear the cache by pressing Ctrl+F5?

Gizmo 2nd July, 2008 03:57 AM

That's your Internet Explorer cache, which is for the caching of web content.

A DNS cache is a completely different critter; it caches ip address:domain name pairs.

oh, duh, what was I thinking.
Thanks Gizmo
