Mail Client

Today I've decided to have a bit of a drive at making my PC more secure and protected against spyware, malware, adware etc etc and I found this basic tutorial which I think is quite good, easy to follow at any rate. It said that I should stop using MS Outlook, which to be fair, is something that I knew already, just never got round to changing it. the peeps at TweakHound suggested using Mozilla Thunderbird, which is fair enough, but I would like to know what you guys use, have tried to look for alternatives to MS Outlook, without much success... any thoughts, suggestions (non obscene thankyou! ) are appreciated, as always

thanks in advance

ps not looking to do anything other than i would with Outlook

I quite like Thunderbird, but I don't use it. The reason is because it has rather poor support for multiple e-mail accounts. What I mean by that is this:

Suppose I check three different mail accounts for e-mail. This I can do with Thunderbird; all I do is set up the pop3 info and everything is great. However, I can only send e-mail on one of those accounts. So, I set up my first account, add the Pop3 and SMTP info. Then I set up the second account, and the third account. If I get e-mail from my third account, I can only send the response to that e-mail from my first account. Since I wear multiple hats, I don't want to do that. I want to be able to SEND e-mail on the same account that I RECEIVED it from. Thunderbird doesn't seem to understand that, but OE does. So, I continue to use OE, much as it pains me.

Thunderbird gets my vote.
I thought you could send thru different accounts
by selecting in the drop down in the 'from' in Thuderbird?Thats what I do anyway.

Wink

I 've gone with Thunderbird too; now at rev. 1.0.2

The only problem I had was that I couldn't import my old data from Outlook (2000) because that had crashed.
Had to repair that one first.
Then I was able to import mails and addressbook.

All is fine now and a lot better protected.

YOU SHOULD TRY IT !

while that will label the sender differently, it still goes out on one server

Naw, there are plenty of others that are as good - Lotus Notes, Eudora, Forte Agent are all good in their own way. But... they're not free. Free alternatives are a bit limited.
