i got some viruses and i need help

i got some damn viruses on my pc and im not sure what they are so i dunno how to delete them. i was trying to find a file on limewire and i got them through there. the first one well it was a setup.exe file and when i opened it it instaled some **** that i had to control over and what it does is it would just start limewire by it self and when u close it it would just open it again so wut i had to do was uninstal limewire and then i started getting errors from java saying it was trying to start limewire but it couldnt and some how i managed to close that. anyone got any idea wut virus that is and how to remove it? my other virus well its german i got it trying to get the same file which i got the first virus from. this one it just instaled some **** called P2P-Portal ppa-10029. i tried lookig for a manual on how to remove this but sadly all the sites were in german. I searched my pc with spybot 50 times and it wouldnt detect any of these. i was thinknig of buying bullgard anti-virus but dunno if its good. it would be nice if someone can tell me how it is or recommend a good virus protection. i had norton and well it sucked and it expired and ever since ive been stuck with so many viruses cuz i dunno wuts good out there. dont recommend me AVG cuz i dont like it so im not gana go for it.

If you're in a bind, there's some web based AV scanners that can help you out. For example, Trend have their Housecall scanner that's free for use.

Personally I use Symantec AntiVirus, but then again, I work for them.

I use McAfee security centre. it has a virus scan and firewall in one handy tray icon.
Ive downloaded lots of trojans and viruses by accident in the past and it has been able to cope with all of them.
And once you have registered with McAfee and set up the automatic updates you can forget about it and let it update all on its own.

If not AVG then try PC-Cillian or Trend Micro, Trend Micro is probably better
Also run them in safe mode.
If your in a bind download AVG, update, and scan in safe mode just to get rid of it, then you can uninstall AVG.
Try looking at http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...s/default.mspx

Really, do you have any other virus protection? Firewalls etc?

There are still sasser and its varients which actively seek computers out, although most can be stopped by a very simple firewall, I am still recieving rings about these, from people who have nothing.

I don't use AV either as i don't get virus's, trojan's or spyware. My recomendation is to use Firefox browser unless IE is absolutely necessary, Use Free AVG when you want to scan as it's the best iv'e tried but annoying left installed or to do what it likes.

Additionally im not sure how limwire works but normally i would use K-Lite or atleast a new variant of it called Resurection or the Java based BitTorrent client Azureus.

You'll most likely find with BT files that most if not all are quality and not some spyware/virus crap, iv'e been using it since it's release and was a heavy downloader when i had DSL Mainly for program updates and such and i have never once came across a bad file.

So perhaps getting a BitTorrent client and checking a bt site for the file you are looking for and see if it's available before trying Kazaa and the like. Also remember to suss the file details out a little, name , description, Does the size of the file seem realistic for the particular thing you want?
