DRM sets Warner against Jobs!

Steve Jobs' open letter about DRM has polarizing effect.

Steve Jobs knew that his open letter on DRM last week would elicit a variety of responses. Jobs reasoned that since music companies were already selling the majority of music on unprotected formats, there were no appreciable benefits to wrapping music files with DRM....

If you look at the langauge he uses with regards to cd's, calling them 'an unprotected legacy product' it's clear to see that jobs' arguement that downloaded music should carry the same flexability is flawed.

The labels don't have any interest in bringing downloads in line with cd's because ultimately they want rid of this unprotected format.
