Here's a tip: Don't Trust the Cloud

This a a fairly long blog from a Google user who claims his account was wrongly turned off. Not suspended, turned off. Without any warning or communication from Google.

Be advised: Google's TOS (if anyone really reads it) is pretty much, "if you use our services, we can do whatever we want with your data." Here's a snippet of the TOS:
Quote:
“…you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.”
Trust the could, or not?

TwitLonger: Dear Google, I would like to bring to your attention a few things before I disconnect permanently f

If you take a look at our TOS, it says essentially the same thing; anything you post on AOA belongs to AOA.

We have to do this for legal protection, to keep nutjobs from suing us into oblivion when they post stuff on this site and then decide 'no wait, I didn't mean that'.

Maybe, but we wouldn't simply terminate someone's account without fair explanation, I don't think.

And, more importantly, we aren't storing anyone's personal information, as Google is. So even if you did disable an account, what could someone possibly lose here? A signature, perhaps, or a list of bookmarked posts?

Certainly not their life's work.

And you guys are at least accessible, if something goes amuck. You answer your emails and would communicate. This guy couldn't get anyone to listen...

In the business world, I used to tell my people that problems, errors, and missed communications don't break a relationship by themselves. The way the problems are handled either cements the relationship - or it's the deal-breaker.
