Video card?

My friend asked me about a better Video card. AFAIK, professional Vidcards are still expensive, even though the bottom end one's have become reasonable.

She has no interest in games. She's good with graphics and has costly suites of graphics software. I don't think that she can afford a ~$200(if that's what bottom rung pro-Vidcards cost nowadays) professional Vidcard.

Would a Matrox G450 or G550 be a good choice as a substitute for a real professional Vidcard?

If she is just working with still graphics I wouldn't think she would need a top of the line card. If she is doing animations and such I wouldn't think she would need more than a plain old G3 or G4. Now if she is editing movies and such she may need to get into some of the more top notch stuff.

In other words, I have no suggestions cloasters.

I think the GF4 440 run around $60(ish).
Check Pricewatch.com or just drop me a pm and we'll work something out.

I think a Radeon would be better for Windows than an nVidia card, cloasters.

Matrox is great in windows as well as the radeon. Wouldn't know which one to go for, but my gut feeling says Matrox.
